Now that I’m out of school for several weeks, I’ll have time to catch up on all the stuff that I’m behind on. Sorry it took me so long, I was very busy with semester finals at school. I’ll catch up, I promise.

Well, ABC finally bit the bullet and pulled Day Break, the not-so-successfull filler meant to quell our thirst for LOST. ABC thinks that it was a failed experiment. Apparently, they knew from the beginning that they would have some problem drawing in viewers for the show. That’s where the LOST Spoiler Moments came in.

However, with the canceling of Day Break for the near future, what will become of the Spoiler Moments? They’ve decided to run re-runs of ABC sitcoms like According to Jim and George Lopez. Will we have Spoiler Moments during those? Probably not. We’ll just have to wait until February (at the new LOST time slot – 10 PM EST) to see what will happen. Now that Day Break is gone, they will probably scrap the Spoiler Moments idea because it was merely a ploy to get people to watch Day Break.

Obviously, it didn’t work.

Damon & Carlton return once again to haunt us with their “ultimate” podcast of 2006. They don’t pre-hash “Not In Portland”, but they do give us some good pre-hashing for the new season. Remember, if you can’t stand to listen to them, read the summary in the Official LOST Podcast section of LOSTfix – I lay it out nice and simple for you. And it’s easier on the ears than listening to D&C.

You know the horns. They sounded when the Others brought Jack out of the compound so that Kate and Sawyer couldn’t yell to him. They sounded when Karl tried to help Sawyer escape from the cages. But do you know another time they sounded? In the second season?

Let’s take a look back at 2.15 “Maternity Leave”. Alex drugs Claire (in flashback to the time Claire was gone in the first season) in the Staff, and starts to drag her out. But we don’t see Alex do the whole thing. The next thing we see is Claire lying down in the jungle. No Alex anywhere. Now, right when the scene begins, listen for the horns… You’ll hear a strong blare to start out, and then, every two seconds or so, another one will sound, getting quieter each time. Try it a couple times and you’ll come to the same conclusion I did: they are the same horn.

If they are indeed the same horn, what does it Here’s two things it could mean:

• Alex got out of the Staff with Claire without being noticed. Once they were in the jungle, the Others came to get Claire out of her room, and finding she wasn’t there, sounded the alarm, and went out into the jungle to find her. Alex heard the alarms and ran.
• Or, the Others saw Alex as she was getting Claire out. Alex dropped Claire off in the jungle and ran.

Those two aren’t very different. The difference lies in if the Others found out it was Alex who got Claire out of there. Let’s think for a moment that they did know it was Alex. Could this be why she became an outcast from the Others? Or was she already an outcast because of something previous?

If Alex’s saving of Claire is why she was an outcast, it makes you wonder if Karl, who seems to be her fellow outcast, had a part in saving Claire, or if he became an outcast because of something different.

Ponder.

You probably know this by know. In fact, I hope you do. I’ve been a total slacker and I missed posting individual articles for these, so here they are. I’m going to do the summaries and key points for these podcasts as soon as I can. After I finish that, I’ll just have three Episode Summaries, Key Points, and Observations left to go. I’m not going to make any promises on how long it will take, because I will be gone this weekend. But hopefully it will be soon. Promise.

The mini-season finale is coming up…Supposedly “the best episode of LOST ever” (says Damon & Carlton). I’m stoked. The official synopsis.

Jack makes a decision regarding Ben’s offer, Kate feels helpless when it looks like an angry Pickett is going to make good on his threat to kill Sawyer, and Locke discovers a hidden message that may guide him through the next steps of his journey to unlocking the secrets of the island.

Reactions coming after the episode. I know I’m a bit (more than a bit) behind on a lot of the stuff on this site, but don’t let that turn you away (please). During the hiatus I will update a lot and get a lot done. I’ve been very busy lately. Really. I promise I’ll get it done.

Critics – I don’t care what you say, this what a pretty darn good episode. It was pretty hardcore/intense. I loved it. And I know that there are people out there who won’t like it, and think that LOST has jumped the shark, and won’t watch anymore, and will badmouth LOST as much as they can. Well… to be blunt… if that’s you, go die in a corner.

Whoo! Tonight, the Cost of Living airs at 9 PM ET on ABC! Ya! And, once again, the Reactions will be up after the episode. I’m running a bit behind on last week’s Summary, but I’ll catch up and have all of the stuff caught up in a couple days. I’ve been really busy lately. Sorry about that. The official synopsis from ABC:

A delirious Eko wrestles with past demons; some of the castaways go to the Pearl station to find a computer they can use to locate Jack, Kate and Sawyer; Jack does not know who to trust when two of the Others are at odds with each other.

If you haven’t seen the episode yet, you might find my reactions a bit spoilerly…

Well, due to recording problems, I haven’t seen the first ten minutes of the episode. All I know is that Eko saw Yemi and something about a tent fire and leaving the camp. But I did think this was a really good episode. I loved the “confession” scene with Eko and “Yemi”, and seeing the monster in (supposedly?) all his glory was cool. The scene in the Hydra with Jack and Juliet and the movie was great. Ben’s scene with Jack was cool, too. And the appearance of Eye Patch Man was cool, too. Can anyone say Radzinsky?

Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse are BACK! No interview this week. We jump straight to them post-hashing 3.04 “Every Man For Himself”. Then they pre-hash 3.05 “The Cost of Living”. Then onto questions.

Key Points

• There is a Stephen King shout-out in Every Man For Himself, but we have to find it, they won’t tell us.
• IMPORTANT: Jae DID commit suicide. They did not mean to confuse us about that particular point.
• Damon’s two possible outcomes of Colleen’s death: Jack’s notice of the x-rays on the wall, and Danny Pickett’s madness (vengeance???).
• Somebody is going to die in The Cost of Living, and it is NOT a minor character. It will be a significant character.
• The polar bears escaped during the collapse of the DHARMA Initiative, not after it. — The bears’ escape did not cause the collapse of DHARMA (the bears’ escape was an effect OF DHARMA’s collapse). — 20 people were killed by the polar bears (Damon and Carlton might be joking about this) — The toy truck in the polar bear’s cave was not Ben’s.
• If the hatch imploded, how were people blown out? Well, according to the laws of physics, an implosion is usually followed by an explosion.
• Yes, Kate does love Sawyer. (Another joke? You can never be sure with them.)
• The four monkeys (?) has NOTHING to do with Locke, Desmond, Charlie, and Eko after the hatch incident.
• There IS a good possibility (4 to 1) that one of the characters on LOST is gay.
• Episode 3.10 is a Hurley flashback.
• Scott is dead. Really. For real.
• The Turbine Man in the pilot episode (1.1) was Gary Troup, author of Bad Twin.
• We will see more of Paulo & Nikki.

What the heck was Locke’s dream all about in 3.03 “Further Instructions”?

Well, first off, Locke, after the hatch incident in which he became mute, constructed a small tent called a sweat lodge. Apparently, if he lit a fire on the inside and poured enough water to fill the tent with steam, he would go into a state where he could meditate. As soon as John reached this state, Boone appeared and took him on a dream journey through Sydney International Airport — but what he saw was very weird.

“Someone in this airport is in serious danger, and you are the only one who can save them,” says Boone, as he pushes John, who is in his wheelchair, around the bustling airport.

As we see people that we recognize from the island, we realize that they are together just as they are on the island — you’ll see what I mean if you follow along.

The first people he recognizes come up quick. Charlie and Claire are standing in front of them. Charlie is playing with Aaron, whom Claire is holding. Just like on the island. Of course Boone says that they aren’t in trouble (for a while), and they move on…

Sun and Jin are standing in line, and as the camera pans back, we see Sayid standing directly behind them. Sayid taps Jin on the shoulder and points at something we can’t see. Almost like they were on the boat, and Sayid was pointing to something on the shore…

At the front of the line is Hurley, dressed in a flight attendant uniform, taking tickets. “Next please,” he says, as he types 4 8 15 16 23 42 into a computer terminal at the counter in front of him. It seems that Hurley is still obsessing with the numbers. We’ll return to Hurley in a moment…
But first, we see Desmond heading down an escalator, casually chatting with a couple flight attendants on the way down (all with weird-looking hair, from that camera angle at least).  Boone says, “Forget it, he’s helping himself.” What could that mean?

Kate and Sawyer are standing in line next to eachother for the baggage check. They are flirting like they know eachother. A few people up the line is Jack, looking dejected and depressed, as he is being waved by Ben, wearing a flight attendant suit. Now, this is clear. In the same general place are Jack, Kate and Sawyer. Kate and Sawyer are getting closer to eachother while Jack is being broken down by the Others, more specifically Ben. Boone says, “There’s nothing you can do for them, not yet. First you have to clean up your own mess.”

Then, suddenly, the airport empties and Boone has John ascend the escalator. At the top he finds Eko’s stick… And the rest we know. But what does this dream mean?

Desmond showed later that episode that he had the ability to see into the future, although how much this is under his control, or if it is just a feeling of deja vu, is uncertain. Could this dream be part of John’s power? He somehow had knowledge of all that was going on on the island, too much for just knowing where those people were. He didn’t know that Jack, Kate, and Sawyer were captured, but he saw Ben, signifying the Others, waving them. What is John’s new ability? Is it different from Desmond’s?

Something else I noticed was that all the survivors of the plane crash are in regular clothes… Except Hurley, who has a uniform on, as does Ben and the flight attendants who were following Desmond around. Desmond was wearing a suit, but he did not have an I.D. card like the other uniforms does. What could this mean? Does Hurley have a connections to the Others? If the uniforms do have something to do with the Others, then what was Desmond’s business with them? He had THREE uniformed people following him.

Hopefully some answers about all this will be given. I encourage you to look at the dream sequence again, it is very interesting.

Can anyone say “Really good episode?” Because I can. I enjoyed every minute of this episode. Every second, in fact. The Sawyer flashback was not the best that we’ve had, but it certainly gave us some very large tidbits about Sawyer’s life…

We find out that Sawyer was in prison and that he has a daughter named Clementine with one of the women that he had conned. On the island, we find that Colleen dies even though Jack tries to save her, Desmond shows more of this mysterious post-hatch imposion abilities, Sawyer and Kate’s relationship twists around in another direction, and that the Hydra is not on the main island, but on another, vastly smaller island off the coast.

Key Points

• Sawyer was in prison for some length of time, obviously for conning.
• Sawyer has a daughter named Clementine with one of the women he had conned.
• Colleen died from the bullet wound she received from Sun.
• Danny Pickett was Colleen’s husband. Now he wants to kill Sawyer.
• Someone from the Others has a large tumor on one of their vertebrae. Jack believes that, since he is a spinal surgeon, that is why the Others captured him.
• The Hydra is located on a small island roughly twice the size of Alcatraz off the coast of the main island where the Losties crashed and the other DHARMA stations are. (How did the Others get there without the boat they gave to Michael and Walt?)
• Desmond definately has some kind of future-seeing ability. The full scale of this ability is yet to be seen.
