Season 3
Here you can find summaries of installments of The Official LOST Podcast, in case you can’t stand to listen to Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse ramble for twenty minutes. If you don’t like knowing small little details (most of them are usually given away in the episode promos on TV) about the next episode, don’t read. All spoilers are very minor hints. That’s all.

10.2.06 (Video) – A Tale of Two Cities
The first video podcast from Damon and Carlton. They cut straight to Damon’s office in the L.A. Disney studio lot. Supposedly, Pirates of the Carribean 3 is filming just outside on one of the nearby soundstages and they see pirates (including Johnny Depp) walking around outside. Of course, we never see them. Oh, and Damon is wearing what we find out later to be a Hydra Station baseball cap. Carlton “gave that one away” (on purpose?).
Key Points
- The premier is called “A Tale of Two Cities”, named after a book by Charles Dickens.
- LOST fans can look forward to love and adventure in Season 3.
- We’ll learn how Locke lost the use of his legs, and we will probably not be impressed by it. It’s mundane.
- We’ll find out about Jack’s tatoo.
- Are there two factions of Others? Yes, there are more than one faction of the Others.
- Are all the crashes (boat, plane and balloon) that happen on the island coincidence? Oh wait, Damon and Carlton got distracted by a storm trooper. They don’t answer.
- Do people who followed the LOST Experience have an advantage over the people who didn’t? Not really.
- Is Kate an Other? Oh wait, they got distracted again… No answer.
- Is there a zoological DHARMA station on the island? Yes. And Damon’s hat has the logo of that station on it. That was where the polar bears and the like came from.
- What will happen to Walt? We won’t get back to their story for a while, but we should look forward to it. Carlton says that Walt is fine, Damon is shaking his head. Hmm.
- Evangeline Lilly essentially chose who she thought Kate would fall for: Jack or Sawyer?
10.9.06 (Audio) – A Tale of Two Cities / The Glass Ballerina
The new Official LOST Podcast is up. It’s an audio version this time; evidently they aren’t going to put out video podcasts every time, just every so often. This could be a good thing for most people without video iPods.
At the beginning is an interview with Elizabeth Mitchell. She talks about playing her character, fitting in with the cast, and being a fan of the show before she was hired.
Then, as usual, Damon and Carlton come in and post-hash A Tale of Two Cities and pre-hash The Glass Ballerina.
Key Points
- Karl is an Other, but he is not a plant. He was trying to escape the Others, and they locked him up so that he couldn’t. We will find out exactly why by the end of the first six episodes.
- We will see more Other flashbacks pre-crash at their village, but not for a while.
- There are other Others in other places on the island (haha) than the Hydra.
10.17.06 (Audio) – The Glass Ballerina / A Tale of Two Cities
This installment begins with an interview with Terry O’Quinn, who plays Locke on LOST. He talks about how he thinks Locke feels now that the button is now gone.
Then Damon and Carleton come on and post-hash The Glass Ballerina, in which they say that they told Yunjin Kim, who plays Sun, that Sun had indeed had an affair with Jae back when they were shooting The Whole Truth, the last Sun/Jin flashback.
Key Points
- Danny Pickett and Colleen were a couple.
- If Ben was telling the truth that he had lived on the island all his life, and he is only than 24, he was living the island before the DHARMA Initiative came there.
- “Further Instructions” is a Locke flashback. We won’t find out how he lost his legs, so don’t get your hopes up.
- Ian Somerhalder appears as Boone in “Further Instructions”. We will probably see more of Shannon in future flashbacks.
- Once again: if you die on LOST, you won’t come back to life.
- Damon and Carlton once again throw in a tidbit that time may not be the same on both the Island and the rest of the world.
- We will find out about Jack’s tatoos & The Flame station in Season Three. They may or may not be connected.
- Henry Gale is pretty much assumed to be “Him”, but the door is still open that it is somebody else.
- Desmond and Kelvin were referring to their hatch replacements when they asked, “Are you him?”
- The Charlie/Claire relationship might grow to a love triangle. But with who?
10.25.06 (Audio) – Every Man For Himself
Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse could not be on this episode because, well, as Chris puts it, they’re busy making a TV show. Instead, they have an interview with Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who plays Mr. Eko. He talks about the challenges of playing Mr. Eko as well as what he loves in the character, and a little of what we can expect in Season Three.
10.30.06 (Audio) – Every Man For Himself / The Cost of Living
Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse are BACK! No interview this week. We jump straight to them post-hashing 3.04 “Every Man For Himself”. Then they pre-hash 3.05 “The Cost of Living”. Then onto questions.
Key Points
- There is a Stephen King shout-out in Every Man For Himself, but we have to find it, they won’t tell us.
- IMPORTANT: Jae DID commit suicide. They did not mean to confuse us about that particular point.
- Damon’s two possible outcomes of Colleen’s death: Jack’s notice of the x-rays on the wall, and Danny Pickett’s madness (vengeance???).
- Somebody is going to die in The Cost of Living, and it is NOT a minor character. It will be a significant character.
- The polar bears escaped during the collapse of the DHARMA Initiative, not after it. — The bears’ escape did not cause the collapse of DHARMA (the bears’ escape was an effect OF DHARMA’s collapse). — 20 people were killed by the polar bears (Damon and Carlton might be joking about this) — The toy truck in the polar bear’s cave was not Ben’s.
- If the hatch imploded, how were people blown out? Well, according to the laws of physics, an implosion is usually followed by an explosion.
- Yes, Kate does love Sawyer. (Another joke? You can never be sure with them.)
- The four monkeys (?) has NOTHING to do with Locke, Desmond, Charlie, and Eko after the hatch incident.
- There IS a good possibility (4 to 1) that one of the characters on LOST is gay.
- Episode 3.10 is a Hurley flashback.
- Scott is dead. Really. For real.
- The Turbine Man in the pilot episode (1.1) was Gary Troup, author of Bad Twin.
- We will see more of Paulo & Nikki.
11.3.06 (Video) – The Damon & Carlton Cross
Well, I’m not going to summarize this one — it has nothing to do with LOST. It is a video of Carlton & Damon explaining their LOST-like cross with a little video reanactment. Watch it yourself if you really want to know what it is.
11.6.06 (Audio) – The Cost of Living / I Do
Not interview today… We just jump straight into Damon & Carlton for their “penultimate” podcast (that means second-to-last). We start post-hashing The Cost of Living immediately. Damon & Carlton get all giddy about fooling people into thinking that Paulo or Nikki was going to die, and then killing Eko. Oh, and Damon & Carlton aren’t going to do a Day Break podcast. Darn.
Post-Hashing
- Why was Eko killed? Because his contract only had him on the show for about a year. Eko wante to do LOST but didn’t want to be on the show long-term. Damon points out that this is similar to Michelle Rodriguez (Ana Lucia).
- Remember: Bernard isn’t the only Tailie left. There are still a lot of them who were captured by the Others, who may or may not be alive.
- Could Yemi on the island have been a manifestation of the island, generated from Eko’s memories collected in the 23rd Psalm? Hmm…
- Eko’s last words to Locke were “You’re next”. Locke interprets it as the plural “you’re”. Could the other castaways face the same fate as Eko eventually?
- What was with Juliet and the TV? Is she not a fully “indoctrinated” Other?
Pre-Hashing
- We’re going to want to throw rocks at Damon & Carlton after the cliffhanger at the end of 3.06 “I Do”.
- Watch “I Do” to find out if Jack will do Ben’s surgery or not…
Questions
- Damon and Carlton are in preliminary stages of creating their podcast on Broadway. Wow. That’s a joke.
- When are we going to see why the Others take the children and other people? We will see Cindy and the kids in 3.08, as well as find out more about why the Others take children.
- Is the island moving? They aren’t going to answer that. How does an island move? Well, it could be on the back of a giant turtle.
- Where are the doctors of the Others? We see doctors in Maternity Leave… but what if they are just Others in scrubs? All doctors are not created equal. They might not be able to take a tumor off Ben’s spine.
- Is the Stephen King book in A Tale of Two Cities Carrie? Yes. It was a rare cover of Carrie.
- Will we find out more about the monster this season? Yes. For example, we now know it can smash people against trees. It could be able to manifest itself as people (Yemi?) or things, but we don’t know that definativley.
- Will we get back to the beach? Yes. After I Do, the time on the Hydra Island will basically be over.
- Both Damon & Carlton love Charles Dickens and Stephen King.
- Which character would Carlton be on the show? Sawyer. He would aspire to be Sawyer. Damon wants to be Claire. Damon wants Claire’s pretty hair.
- Are we coming back to the Black Rock? Yes. Definately.
12.6.06 (Audio) – I Do
The ultimate podcast of the fall pod, although later than expected. We go straight to the “formerly lost but now they’re found Pod Squad”. Wow. That’s Damon & Carlton for you new fools. No pre-hashing for “Not in Portland” today.
Post-Hashing
- What Kate + Sawyer the definitive choice? Um… They had sex. Jeez. Yes, it was their choice.
- Was Jack’s plan for helping Sawyer and Kate noble or stupid? Carlton says noble, Damon says stupid.
- We have some good beach meat and potatoes coming up.
- Locke’s revelation on Eko’s stick? Does it mean anything? Yes. It does.
- What will we find out when we come back from the break? Desmond’s “powers” will be revealed. Is Ben lying about Alcatraz Island? We’ll find out. We are going to see Rosseau. Is DHARMA and the Others the same? We’ll see.
Questions
- Question #1: Will we see what Kate did to be on the run? … Wow. Buy Season Two.
- Question #2: Do you want us the viewers to become Christianity? The Bible influences Damon & Carlton, and the show has always been spiritual.
- Question #3: Will LOST return for Season Four? Well, there is a miniscule chance that the show becomes so horrible that nobody will watch. But… We can be confident that there will be a Season Four.
- Question #4: How can the Alcatraz Island exist? Haven’t the characters seen it before? The island is very large. It is very possible that they haven’t seen a small island 2 miles off the coast.
- Question #5: Where is Kate’s armpit hair when she’s getting it on? Jeez… A show doesn’t have to be that realistic. Gross.
- Question #6: Why did the Rose & Bernard love scene get cut? Is ABC racist or ageist or is it really XXX-rated? No need to answer that.
- Question #7: Why the heck did Sawyer & Kate have sex in a dirty cage? How did the cage get bigger when the cloths come off? Because they felt like it. And, it is the same cage. Promise.
- Question #8: Who is the leader of the Others? Or is it Ben? Will we see him soon? We have heard of a mysterious man called Jacob. Could that be him? That’s a legitimate question.
- Question #9: Will Ben die on the operating table? No, but he will die in a tragic fishing accident two episodes from now. That’s a joke, by the way.
